Unfriend movie review

Unfriend is a story about a teenager who got upset after his lover broke up with him, confide on the social network sites until he lost his sanity that lead him to take his own life. The movie is not about the homosexual relations but deals with the issues of teen suicides.

It was not too long ago when news broke out about the a teen who commit suicide and broadcast his feelings online and announced about taking his own life. This is a sad reality but it is happening among our youth.

The causes of this suicides can be anything. Problems in the family like in the case of the movie, Jonathan is close to his grandmother. In the absence of his OFW, he has no one else to turn when he has problems outside his his own refuge.

His other problem was the broken relationship. His only important person outside the family circle left him and he has no one else to turn to.If he only had immediate friends like the Wallflower(another movie reference), the suicide may be avoided.

Although I had similar problems in my younger years, I learned to cope up on my own. I don't have friends like the Wallflower has and our guidance counseling services and faculty mentors are also not reliable and ignorant to help.

The other reasons may not be stated in this movie was the bullying. There is not one but more cases of suicides because of this. This kind of news are a wake up call for us and hopefully this  movie will remind us of it.

Unfriend stars Sandino Martin, Angelo Ilagan, and Ms. Boots Anson Roa. Directed by Joselito Altarejos for Centerstage Production and release and distributed by Solar Entertainment Corp. For movie releases, reviews, and interviews, visit and like L.E.N.S. blogs on Facebook.
