Review: Are you familiar with the Greek myth story of Pygmalion? Pygmalion created a statue of the woman and the more he worked on it to make it more beautiful, the more he get attracted to his work. The gods were compassionate to Pygmalion that they gave life to his creation. Calvin, played by Paul Dano, is a modern representation of Pygmalion.

Here's a situation that will show you what would happen if the same mythological situation happens in this modern time.  This how realistic it can get. Regardless of the mystical element of the story, it has good insights on how people should do to make relationships work. It is not just the type of story that will make you feel light hearted but it will make you feel good before you leave the cinema.

For the actors, it takes good chemistry to make a onscreen romance work but since it is played by a real life couple Paul Dano and Zoe Kazan, it was just a synch for them. Zoe Kazan also wrote the story so it also a factor that was easy for her to act her in her story. They are not the only couple in the production since the two directors jonathan Dayton  and Valerie Faris are also couples. Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Elliot Gould and Steve Coogan also stars. It was humbling to see these veteran actors taking a step behind from major roles especially Antonio Banderas for this movie.

Ruby Sparks is released in selected theatres by 20th Centrury Fox(Fox Searchlight) and distributed by Warner Brothers.
