This is not your parent's tale. This is a re-imagined version of the tale. There's no idea where did the story of Snow White originated because there were lots of stories as gathered by the Brothers Grimm. Because of the popular Disney version, most are not aware that there was a huntsman that was instrumental to aid Snow White. The Brothers Grimm original story is really different from the Disney full length animation.
Here are my thoughts for my review. Although it's good to see Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart doing other roles, you can't help but see the trademark characters they are familiarized and labeled with. As for Charlize Theron, she will be a subject for the Halloween costume parties for her character, the evil stepmother.
The story can be compared to the style of Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. It is as if you traveled to another world, not just another time. Not to spoil the story but it has elements of Grimm in it even if it's not. Opens June 1 in Philippine cinemas. Thanks to Solar Entertainment for the screening last May 30 at SM Megamall.
