We Bought A Zoo

Story: Movie adaptation based on a true story. Widower Benjamin Mee starts a new life with his two kids on a newly purchased property with a zoo that housed 47 different species.

Review: At first, I thought it was also autobiographical since Benjamin Mee and director Cameron Crowe shares a same profession just like what Crowe did with the movie, Almost Famous, which is based on Crowe's experiences touring with bands for interviews. It turns out that it is a true story based on Benjamin Mee's adventure at the zoo with his children.

Being a widowed like Benjamin Mee is the most challenging task in the movie. Raising kids alone is not easy. This is one movie were you can learn more about having a family. This proves that even at the loss of one family member, the family is still complete.

When I found out that it is based on a true story, I made a research about the event. There were some differences in the movie than what happened in real life but it is only a minor thing. The movie also highlights the music score mostly provided by Jónsi. We Bought A Zoo was distributed by 20th Century Fox and will open in Philippine cinemas on January 18.
